I hosted a legislative session wrap-up town hall on June 22, 2021. In case you weren’t able to tune in, below are a list of resources on the topics discussed, who spoke and how you can contact them, as well as a recording of the event.

House Bill 1833 – Establishing cultural districts

Speaker: Jessie Fuentes – Puerto Rican Cultural Center, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

I spearheaded this measure that will allow the state to designate up to 15 sites as cultural districts, giving them a chance to pursue community-driven economic opportunity initiatives that ensure our neighborhoods preserve their unique cultures and continue to build legacies. It awaits the governor’s signature.

House Bill 2878 – Training early childhood educators

Speaker: Teresa Ramos – IL Action for Children, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

We need to remove barriers by expanding access and affordability in this field to show support for the workforce that cares for and educates our youngest while families work and pursue educational goals. That’s why I sponsored and passed HB 2878 – to create a statewide higher education consortium that will help bolster the early education workforce in Illinois. This measure awaits final action by the governor.

House Bill 3308 – Expanding telehealth services

Speaker: Asia Canaday – Start Early, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

The COVID-19 pandemic has showed us just how important accessibility to equitable health care is. That’s why I co-sponsored HB 3308 to expand telehealth services in Illinois. This legislation passed both chambers with overwhelming bipartisan support, and now awaits signature from Gov. Pritzker.
